At The Play Commons (TPC), we hold onto a simple yet powerful belief: when children play freely, communities thrive. Our space is built on the spirit of kampong — togetherness, sharing, and belonging. Here, children, families, and educators come together to slow down, connect, and rediscover the joy of learning through play.
OUR STORY
TPC was founded by Shanthi, an experienced international school educator with a strong background in diverse learning methodologies. Having worked with children and families across different cultures, she brings a global perspective and a deep commitment to inclusive education. Shanthi is passionate about every child’s right to belong in learning environments where they feel seen, valued, and celebrated. As the Director of TPC, she leads with vision and heart, shaping the community with her dedication to inclusion and the kampong spirit of togetherness.
At Shanthi’s invitation, Alyna joined the journey of TPC, bringing with her the experience and resources of The Learning Caravan Pte. Ltd. (TLC). With years of practice in child-led and Reggio-inspired approaches, she contributes her strengths in space design, resources, and programme development.
Through TLC, Alyna provided eco-friendly furniture, play materials, and teaching resources that helped shape the physical environment of TPC. Her creative touch and deep respect for children’s voices infuse the space with warmth and wonder, laying a strong foundation for a community where children can play, learn, and grow with joy.
​Together, Shanthi and Alyna co-create The Play Commons as a place where every child is welcomed, every family feels at home, and the kampong spirit of trust, creativity, and community is kept alive. Their shared dream is to make TPC more than a play space — a living kampong for children, families, and educators to learn, connect, and thrive together.
